North of Timun village

|
This road heads North towards the mountains.
|
Green paddy fields, the stubble of fields recently
harvested, and those full of golden rice ripening in the sun. Bali's rich
volcanic soil supports three crops a year. The appearance of these fields
changes dramatically throughout the year. During ploughing
and the preparation of each plot, the grass is shaved from mud walls of
the terraces becoming bare brown earth. Just prior to planting a new crop,
the fields are flooded with about four inches of water.

The road descends South towards the village of Timun
and the sea.
