What is RMIT Surfriders?

A university surf club at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. We cater for the absolute beginner all the way up to the total gun. Surfing lessons for the beginners operate on most trips. Advanced lessons (with a main focus on competitions) are run on the first Sunday of the month with professional coaches. The Surfriders also enter members into state and national competitions against other universities across Australia.

Weekend trips to all the surrounding coasts are held throughout the year. For the climax of the year, we take a 10 day trip up North to Byron Bay, Northern NSW. We have heaps of social events as well, pub crawls and the like.

RMIT Surfriders is 2nd largest sports club at RMIT. And with an average membership of 150+ RMIT students and staff you're sure to have a good time!

Where do they surf?

Well, were ever we can get to. Generally, we surf the West Coast - Torquay/Jan Juc area, and the East Coast - Phillip Island/Flinders/Rye. We also venture out to Wilsons Promontory/Sandy Point once or twice a year.

How do I join?

It usually helps if you go to RMIT, or at least live in Melbourne. Membership for the year is $25 which includes a SurfRiders T-shirt, heaps of other surfing stuff (mags, stickers, sunscreen, dingers) and an ice cold tinny of VB (Victoria Bitter that is, the best beer on earth). Your membership money goes to subsidising surf trips and club events, plus you get access to the club boards and four newsletters throughout the year.

You can join the Surfriders club ONLINE now!
Simply fill out the application form and we will contact you as soon as we receive it.
