a bridge in Mandalay
I came across this beautiful wooden footbridge while exploring the back blocks of Mandalay, Central Burma. It is probably made from teak.
The bridge crossed this lagoon carrying the traffic of the inhabitants whose houses backed into it. The pond was choked with water lillies. What an amazing sight it would be when the flowers are all in bloom.
I asked these girls waiting in the middle of the bridge if I could photograph them. The light of the setting sun had an extraordinry orange yellow cast to it, yet their plastic hair clips blazed bright blue. A complimentary hue on the opposite side of the colour wheel.
