extraordinary colour
That amazing mottled pink wall with those rich blue doors would have been enough, but add to that a lush well-kept carpet of verdant green grass, a strange two-wheeled carriage with its curious, somewhat sinister bat wing skin covering looking a like comical version of the grim reaper's hearse, a chocolate and white patchwork bullock to haul it about for heaven's sake, and some figures who just happened to be chatting in the doorway as I passed. Flatten all these elements with a telephoto lens and you get this peculiar surreal image.
"Click.." Yes!
I photographed this pink wall in the old port town of Galle, Sri Lanka in 1983. Looks like the whole thing was staged managed doesn't it? I assure you it wasn't. Sometimes elements and colours just combine together in ways that make extraordinary compositions.
