fishing for photographs

I caught this quaint ferry at Trengganu on the East coast of Malaysia. It took me to this little fishing village on the small low-lying island you can see spread out across the horizon in the back ground
Some of the island's fishermen waiting for something to happen. This shed or 'pondok' is built on thick bamboo stilts above the water. The floor is also made of strong hollow tubes of natural bamboo. The above picture was made from two different shots. It was only after loading both scanned images into Photoshop and accidentally arranging them side by side on the desktop, that I realised the possibility they could be joined together. The slight mis-match in perspective creates a wonderful sense of space doesn't it?
These are the fish they caught! The word for fish in Malay is 'ikan'
