fantasy in a one-way street

The doorway
to a Chinese bar photographed in the back streets of Kota Barhu, North Malaysia.

No matter where you look in man-made street scapes, there are always interesting compositions waiting to be framed at all sorts of various scales.

This wonderful arrangement of shapes, objects, surfaces and colours caught my eye. With that electric blue door jam, the rich texture of the stucco wall and those extraordinary orange swing doors, it was a ready-made composition.

The jaunty angle and silvery metallic colour of the upturned bin sits nicely in the corner of the frame too along with the drunken lean of the one-way street sign and its red circle warning. They look like a pair of inebriated customers hanging about out the front hoping to be let back into the bar once they have sobered up.
