Maitre d'Arme: Harry Sommerville
Maitre Harry Sommerville has had a long and distinguished fencing career, highlighted by his appearence in the 1964 Olympic games, where he represented Australia in the Sabre competition.

Maitre Sommerville has been with the club for over 35 years and has taught at both Melbourne, Monash and Swinburne University. His experience is surpassed only by his nerves of steel which make even an experienced fencer think twice when fencing him.

Maitre Sommerville holds the formal qualification of Maitre d'Armes (Master of Arms). This is a qualification which is held in high regard, and confirms his talent as a fencing coach.

Maitre Sommerville teaches the traditional French style of fencing, starting all of his students exclusively with a Foil with a French grip. Many of his students eventually move on to learn Sabre, which is his primary weapon. Some of his students at RMIT are now also learning Epeé.
